Data Terms Explained

DPID Barcoding

Delivery Point Identifier (DPID) is a unique number that Australia Post allocates to a physical addresses – as new buildings are built and new addresses are created, these numbers are updated and added to what is called the Postal Address File (PAF File). By printing a Barcode image of this number with an address, Australia Post can scan the code and automate some of the sorting process.

Print Post Sorting

Print Post is another category of mail designed for regular publications, any publication that is mailed at least two times a year of at least 100 items is eligible. The publication has to be registered with Australia Post and they allocate a unique number for the publication. The unique number needs to be printed on the address piece (envelope of address flysheet) and the item is eligible for discount Postage rates. Print Post sorting is based on Postcodes and the more items you have going to the same postcode the cheaper the pricing can be.

De-Dupe

De-Duplication is a process where duplicate records in a data file are identified so they can be removed. We have specialised software and techniques to search for data that looks the same. This can be Names or Addresses or other data segments that are contained within a file. The records can be automatically marked for removal or manually selected from a list of matched records. Removing duplicate records avoids sending people more than 1 mailpack and the associated wasteful costs.

2D QR (Quick Response)

2 Dimensional Barcodes are another way of printing information, commonly a website URL. This is an increasingly popular way of bringing the print and digital formats together. Using QR codes eliminates potential spelling errors when entering a website URL. We can generate the barcode – representing whatever you would like to capture. Unlike the 1D codes such as product barcodes – these 2D codes can contain a lot more information. Reading them is very easy with free barcode readers available for smartphones.

Dynamic 2D QR Barcodes

Quick Response (QR) Barcodes can be Dynamic and contain unique information extracted from a data file. We have software which can generate these dynamic 2D codes which can integrate to a digital platform and provide traceable responses to a campaign. You can include a unique customer number or direct them to different parts of your website by applying different file pathways based on elements of your data file.

Household Consolidation

By data matching all the records in a file with the same address – we are able to send just one mail piece to each household. By doing this you are able to get your message into more households and avoid waste.

List Wash

When data files are combined from multiple file sources – like combining CRM and Accounting records – there are often incomplete or duplicate records. We can match these up and remove duplicate records so each person in the data file gets one mail piece.

Variable Data

The simplest form of Variable Data Printing (VDP) is the name and address on a letter or envelope. When you get a transaction statement you see countless pieces of Variable Data – all specific to you placed throughout even a multi-page statement. When a data file is linked to a document the different parts of the data can be mapped on to the document. Variable refers to the fact that it changes according to the data in the file and Data refers to the fact that it is only data or text that is printed from the file.

Variable Graphics

We can print different images based on triggers within a linked data file. The images can be anything you like and we program them to print based on a value in the data. If you have Greeting Cards for new baby’s and the data contained Boy or Girl detail – you can change the print based on that value and the Boys get Blue cards and the Girls get Pink cards for example. We can Print in Full Colour on a wide range of paper stocks.
